The Simply Elegant Group - Chicago Wedding Planners + Coordinators

Negative experience: We chose this company after seeing all these 5 star reviews, however that was not our experience at all. We signed a full planning package which cost us over $12k because we both work demanding schedules and needed proactive guidance and structure. Instead, we found ourselves doing a significant portion of the planning ourselves. When we raised concerns, the company acknowledged that the service delivered did not align with their standards or what was outlined in our agreement. We ultimately chose to discontinue services due to what had happened and we didn’t trust another planner from the same company 3 months out from the wedding. They refused any partial refund of the non-refundable retainer despite admitting gaps in performance. We had been respectful in all communication throughout this process. The final response we received from Lindsey was extremely defensive and dismissive in tone (very clearly ChatGPTed), which was disappointing after we had approached the situation professionally. We do not recommend working with this company. Please save your money and effort and go somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: Patient , organized and able to deal with wedding party and family speaking different languages - always offering a sweet smile and explanation of changes and choices. Great choice !!

Fantastic experience: If I could give Melody Roy six stars it still wouldn't be enough. She made the overwhelming manageable and ensured our dream day came true! Every event of the weekend went perfectly. She listened carefully, really understood what we were after, and brought it to life. Melody perfectly walked the balance of giving exactly as much control as we wanted and handling all the rest. Melody was ahead of the ball on everything and any time there was a bump she came with solutions ready. We really don't know how we would've done it without her (and under budget too!).

Fantastic experience: Rabia was truly exceptional. From start to finish, she was incredibly organized, attentive, and brought such thoughtful taste and guidance to every decision. Our wedding was executed flawlessly, and only afterward did I learn just how many issues she quietly handled behind the scenes to keep everything running perfectly. She anticipated needs before I even knew they existed and genuinely saved the day more than once. Because of Rabia, I was able to be fully present and enjoy every moment. Fantastic experience: We literally could not have pulled our wedding day off without Rabia and Simply Elegant Group. As a Month-Of coordinator Rabia was a complete standout throughout our whole wedding day! We had a lot of moving parts, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception with mixed in performances and outfit changes and she seamlessly put all the pieces together. And all during the biggest snowstorm in November that Chicago has ever seen! She even snapped a few photos of us which has helped me get though the time while we wait for our photographer to edit all our pictures. Thank you so much to Rabia and the team at Simply Elegant!

Fantastic experience: We are so grateful we had Grace from The Simply Elegant Group as our day of coordinator. Fantastic experience: Worked with Grace, and she was great! I hired Simply Elegant Group to help with last two months of communications and day of coordination. Grace was very responsive in helping with all the last minute follow up, ensuring vendors were prepared for the big day. She was super reliable and totally on top of day of coordination. Any request or pivot, she handled with grace (pun intended!) and she made sure the day went perfect.

Fantastic experience: We were initially matched with Daijah as our day of coordinator and had a change due to an emergency that came up for Daijah two weeks before our wedding. Although the Company says they start becoming active 60 days before your wedding day, Daijah did not really do anything for us at all even 2 weeks before our wedding other than a call or two to set up our day of wedding timeline. Then 2 weeks before our wedding, we when our planner changed to Rabia - this was such a blessing in disguise. Once Rabia stepped in we felt like everything was completely under control, being thought of and being planned for. She took the initiative on so many things we didn’t even think about. She was absolutely a life saver and I’d recommend her to anyone! If you get Rabia you’ll be in safe hands. We had an absolutely wonderful wedding with her running it.

The company & Lindsay are very professional, helpful, and go above and beyond to make our wedding day stress free. They do a great job of helping you throughout the planning and coordinating process. In our experience, it was amazing to have someone in the industry help us navigate everything. Our original intention was to help us run our actual wedding day and we were pleasantly surprised when Lindsay helped with all the details leading up to the wedding. If you are considering Simply elegant, you will not be sorry. Their service is amazing and the price is very competitive.

We began working with Grace approximately two months before the wedding, which gave us ample time to go over all the important details in advance. We started with Melody a little more than a year before the wedding, and she was very professional, timely, and genuine throughout the whole process. Fantastic experience: We worked with Brenda as our planner and had an amazing experience from start to finish! The planning tools provided were SO helpful for organizing everything. From helping us find vendors to the final venue walkthrough, Brenda was there for us through it all. Before we knew it, the big day was upon us, and it went seamlessly! Brenda and her assistant, Carmen, were there for us the entire day, and we couldn’t have done it without them! Fantastic experience: At first I was hesistant to hire a month of coordinator, I'm very organized and was loving the planning process so I wasn't sure it would be worth it. I can't believe I ever thought I could do without! As soon as I began working with Jess my planning process went from fun to incredible. She managed the little last minute details while I could enjoy the days leading up to our wedding. She helped me make decisions when I asked for help, but always supported me and never pressured me to do anything a certain way. She walked us through all the details and created us a wedding workbook that was so helpful for creating a detailed checklist. We choose the 60 day planner and that's when the Lead Planner started Alex and she was absolutely amazing to work with! She was very professional but also super fun. Fantastic experience: Hands down, the best investment we could have made for our wedding was hiring SEG. Especially since we were trying to plan a wedding in Chicago from Florida, we were lost in starting this journey. Alex instantly made everything easier and had us on the correct path the whole time. She went above and beyond any expectations that we had and always made sure that we were aware of any action items on a monthly basis so that we wouldn't miss out on anything. You could instantly tell that she has a passion for wedding planning. From providing her expert insights into design or cultivating the perfect vibe that we were aiming for, we couldn't have asked for more. The attention to detail that was given on the actual day and the curated timeline made it all seamless and gave us the opportunity to actually take in and enjoy the whole day with family and friends! We could write a book about how magical and perfect every aspect of the wedding turned out, how valued we felt over the planning process, or even how Alex went out of her way to make sure that the little details happened that you look back on now and deeply appreciate but it still wouldn't be enough to repay her for curating the wedding that we dreamed of.

Fantastic experience: Diya was absolutely incredible her attention to our needs especially regarding the cultural nuances we navigated to produce the most beautiful Gujarati Hindu wedding meanwhile staying mindful to make it comprehensive and inclusive for all of my non-Indian side of the family too. The whole process went so much smoother and thanks to Diya's help and guidance I can truly say we had our dream wedding!!!

Fantastic experience: Just wow! As MOB with myself and bridal party in from other parts of the country, this was absolutely worth the investment. The bride, the wedding party and I were all able to simply enjoy the event. We worried about nothing. Rabia was our planner- she had a great sense of humor, knew what was needed and was able to lead through everything. Everyone knew where they needed to be and when. I SO appreciated this!

Every stress I had she was able to help out with. We had a DIY venue with no included vendors so we had quite a lot to coordinate on the day of the wedding. Moinyett kept everything running extremely smoothly and made sure everyone was where they needed to be. She was so efficient that I didn't even notice any logistics that were going on during the wedding. My mom did all our decor and she said Moinyett was especially helpful on setting it all up. From the start, I loved their service offerings and felt that they could provide exactly what I needed with their month-of wedding coordinator option. I had done a lot of the larger planning/vendor booking upfront by myself, but I desperately needed help with the timeline/logistics/detail planning. Bella, our planner, was INCREDIBLE. From our first meeting to the wedding day, she put my mind at ease. She was authentic and honest in every instance where I was looking for an opinion and that was SO incredibly valuable to me. On the day of, I didn't have to worry about the schedule/timeline/inventory because her and her assistant worked so seamlessly to ensure all went smoothly. Fantastic experience: I had the lovely opportunity to have Rabia as my lead planner for my wedding in downtown Chicago, and she was just a DREAM. During the planning process, I was pretty consistently overwhelmed and stressed, just naturally as a bride. Rabia stepped in a few months before our day, and having her come in was a major breath of fresh air. I felt like I could breath again planning my wedding!! She was so coordinated, organized, and thorough. And also, just so so easy to get along with, which is incredibly important that you jive with your planner. It truly felt like I had a friend who cared just as much as I did that my wedding day went off without a hitch. And it did go off without a hitch thanks to Rabia and her assistant Alex. They were so efficient on the day of and communicated with all vendors perfectly. I know everyone says to be prepared for something to go wrong the day-of on your wedding day - but truthfully, absolutely nothing went wrong the day of. I even asked Rabia after the wedding if something did (because if it did, I know everyone would shield me from it), and it all went perfectly. Which is just such a strong testament to how organized, reliable, and detailed Rabia is. Even my entire wedding party and parents were impressed and felt so comfortable having the two of them there! Also - Rabia deserves extra credit points, because I had an issue with shipping certain items needed for the day of, and it was 10pm at night, two weeks before the wedding, and she was responding, texting other back-up options, and calling me to help me out. I’m so appreciative of Alex. From day 1, she was supportive, meticulous, and full of positivity. She asked all of the right questions when working with vendors, and I was able to take a step back after our initial planning days together. On wedding day, she was so kind and even steamed my dress because it was wrinkled. She made sure everything was in order, and I was able to relax and enjoy my wedding day. You can tell she really enjoys her career. My mom was also very impressed. Thanks for everything Alex!! You’re the best!! I couldn’t have done this without you.

Fantastic experience: Kay at SEG was the BEST. She was incredibly thoughtful and stepped into the role with ease after our first planner left the company. At first I was stressed about the change, but meeting Kay and seeing her dedication and attention to detail put us at ease. She went above and beyond to handle problems before they came up, had amazing communication skills, and was eager to make our vision come to life. I relied on her industry expertise and she showed up as a professional. I can't recommend Kay enough!!

Negative experience: We were seriously underwhelmed by SEG and for the price we were expecting a much higher quality of service. We hired SEG for Day of Wedding Coordination, a package where you're assigned a planner 60 days out from the wedding. We were assigned Rabia, who lacked the proactivity and assertiveness we were hoping for to keep our wedding planning and day of running smoothly. In the 60 days of SEG coverage, we were never provided a game plan of what SEG would own vs. what we needed to handle. Our planner was reluctant to follow up on guest allergens with our caterer or help come up with signature cocktail with the venue. It felt like we were inconveniencing our planner with our requests, rather than her helping take items off our plate. SEG provides a comprehensive "Wedding Workbook" for couples to document all the vendors and decisions throughout the planning process and then for the planner to use for vendor confirmations & day of. Our planner didn't read our Workbook until less than 3 weeks out from the wedding when she started asking for more information on vendors and realizing she didn't have everything required to execute the wedding. This wasn't a huge deal but also could and should have been done in the first week of the planner being assigned to our event. The wedding day was a struggle the lack of proactivity snuck up and left family members and venue staff leading the parts of the venue set up the planner was supposed to own. Little things like the planner bringing us a drink and apps during the cocktail hour didn't happen. Planner didn't give our DJ the proper cues to emcee the event and then released our transportation buses early. There was no major catastrophe with our planner, just the compounding of tons of small misses. We read many great reviews of SEG, and are sure there are many wonderful planners in this group, we just didn't happen to get one of them. Given SEG's model of not assigning a planner until 60 days out from your event, we'd recommend not risking getting a dud.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Simply Elegant enough for your wedding planning. We worked with Rabia who was actually the best. She made the planning process so easy, and was always on it in the months leading up to the wedding. The month before the wedding I was getting pretty overwhelmed and stressed, and every time I talked to Rabia she was already on the things I was going to bring up, and/or had a game plan for things. On the day of the wedding, Rabia was actually an angel. She made sure everything went so smooth, like I didn’t have to think a single thought besides just being present. Both my husband and I loved working with her, and she really helped to make our day amazing. Everything went so well, we pretty much had nothing go wrong and I credit a lot of that to Rabia and her planning skills! Cannot recommend enough. I searched high and low for a planning company and I was so pleased with the quality of work we received, but also with a price within our budget. If you get or can select Rabia as your planner, you’re set! We got married Sept 1st at the Adler, and everything was perfect thanks to Rabia! She’s also so nice and enjoyable to be around, I spent half my wedding day with her and we had so much fun together, which is exactly how you want to feel on your wedding day.

Fantastic experience: We could not have made it through wedding planning without Brenda & Ashley. They are the most organized team that I have ever worked with, and they thought of every detail! They kept us on track and put our minds at ease when we were feeling stressed. Day of Brenda was cool as a cucumber which helped us focus on having fun because we were confident she would handle it all. She was loved by all our family members! 1000/10 recommend Simply Elegant Group!

Negative experience: 2025 brides beware. While initially impressed with their company upon interviewing, it was clear that they all use the same template given to them while completely not following through on the day of. The planners could not be more unprepared, with one calling in sick the morning of my wedding (I was notified while almost getting into my dress) and the other deciding that following me around all day would be a better decision then setting up my venue as previously hired for. Complete lack of professionalism, initiative, and overall pride in completing their duties. Unfortunately the list of complaints is endless for me. Concrete examples outside of the call- in include not following day of plan and questioning my family regarding timing, relying on our venue for room set up, my dress went unbustled, there was no emergency bag of potential items needed on day of as previously promised in meetings, and most importantly, she never grabbed us to privately see our venue all set up during cocktail hour. Matter of fact, we were the dead last to see it as it was upon our entrance that we got to. I had been dreaming of that moment for years. After numerous times complaining to management, I only received 125 dollars back out of the 2500 spent ahead of time. I should have known better. After speaking with a family member and two co-workers following my wedding, all shared similar experiences. I think this company needs to be reminded that while this is just another day for the planners, this is THE day for the bride and groom.

Fantastic experience: My now-wife, Chelsea, and I used Simply Elegant's services to plan our wedding that just took place November 3rd in Chicago. We were paired with Brenda Chavez and Brenda did an UNBELIEVABLE job collaborating with us to make our dream wedding come true. We hired her at the partial planning level and it was still such a massive help for us along the way. The tools, tips, reminders/deadlines, resources, planning templates and overall structure she provided us was a total gamechanger. And that's just the small things. Brenda was very knowledgeable about both the industry as a whole and specifically all of the big players within the Chicago area. She had great pre-existing rapport with all of vendors, suggestions on who to go with for what we wanted and was professional and prompt in her communication with all of them. She was an absolute life-saver and is damn good at her job. The final thing is that Brenda is just a great person. She's compassionate, cares about her clients and their love and was so easy to get along with. She was a perfect fit for Chelsea and I and I think Lindsay knew that when matching us up. It seems that Simply Elegant is full of great people and management staff savvy enough to know who to pair you and your partner with for the most seamless experience. Couldn't recommend them higher. Fantastic experience: Danielle and Jenny were amazing. We hired SEG for the "day of" coordination. My daughter and I had picked all the vendors and knew what we wanted for my daughter's big day, and Danielle made it come to light. We had a few meetings leading up to the month of the wedding, and Danielle was there for anything we needed help with. She coordinated with the hotel and vendors, making the day seamless! We can't thank her and Jenny enough for their amazing work! I would recommend SEG to anyone looking for a planner!

Fantastic experience: Where to even begin?! My experience with SEG, specifically with Rabia, was absolutely outstanding. I loved that SEG was really able to tailor my package for what I needed (since I had done a ton of planning myself already) and they didn’t try to oversell me on things that I didn’t need. I started working with Rabia about two months prior to my wedding, and my first impression of her was “wow, she definitely knows what she’s doing!!” She is so knowledgeable, and also kept me sane during the months prior to my wedding (crucial time) - and more importantly the day of. Fantastic experience: Melody and the entire team from The Simply Elegant Group was so wonderful to work with from start to finish! With SEG’s Event Management package, you are not assigned a specific planner until about 8 weeks from your wedding date. It can feel like a little bit of a risk to sign a contract without knowing who you’ll be working with but we were absolutely thrilled with Melody. Leading up to the event Melody was proactive with vendor communications, offered her expert advice when we asked for guidance, and helped us plan ahead for details we would never have thought of. She took the lead on the day-of so that my husband and I did not have to manage anything - we had an issue with one of our trolley’s ending up in the wrong place and by the time she let us know about the issue she had already put a solution in motion. Most of all Melody was kind and fun and just a joy to work with. And, Simply Elegant Group literally paid for itself because we were able to use one of their preferred vendors for our florist and that discount was basically the same value as their fee. Highly recommend Melody and The Simply Elegant Group!

Fantastic experience: Rabia from Simply Elegant Group was amazing to work with! She was great at keeping me stress-free and on track throughout the planning process, and was a super helpful and calming presence on the day of. Plenty of people during and after our wedding made comments on how great our planner was! Her and my husband even helped to plan a surprise for me the day of that literally left me speechless (we had a Kristen Bell moment and we got to hang out with a sloth for a bit right after our ceremony). Fantastic experience: Rabia was our coordinator for our September 2024 wedding and it went perfectly. We connected with Rabia two months before our wedding to chat through the details. No matter how minor of a detail, Rabia took it down and made me feel confident that she would execute it perfectly on the day of. As the day got closer, Rabia took lead on scheduling our walk through which made me feel so much better about my vision coming together. I emailed Rabia a lot leading up to the wedding and she took in every last detail. On the day of the wedding, Rabia had the perfect energy. She took care of details seamlessly and had the perfect attitude. She asked me questions when she needed to, to make sure everything matched my vision, and made sure to handle everything. When we ran out of alcohol, Rabia secured more magically. I am so grateful to have had Rabia with us on our wedding, any bride would be lucky to work with her!

Negative experience: My best friend got married this weekend and they were extremely unprepared. As a bridesmaid I witnessed many things that could have been handled better. When the bride explained this to management after, management did not take any responsibility. When I get married I will be staying far away from this company and you should too. Completely unprofessional and unprepared.

Fantastic experience: Jennifer David was our planner with SEG and was worth every single penny and then some. If I could give 100 star review, I would. From the very start, Jennifer was organized, informative, gave great feedback, and always with a smile. Wedding day was flawless and she handled all the vendors with great professionalism. She was constantly checking on the bride and me and providing our every need. This was our 5th and last child to marry and I wish I would have hired planner for the other weddings. Positive experience: Most of the vendors we used for our wedding were recommendations from friends and family, but our wedding planner was based off of reviews on The Knot and we were very pleasantly surprised. We hired a day of planner through SEG almost a year prior to our wedding and they were communicative the whole time. Our planner started working with us about 2 months prior to our wedding and she was great! She was incredibly responsive and knowledgeable when it came to all of my wedding questions. Our actual wedding day flowed very smoothly due to our planners direction and coordination. The only reason that I am giving 4 stars is because I do just wish our planner would have been a little more assertive/provided more direction during our rehearsal.

Fantastic experience: Kay was absolutely amazing! We used the Event Management package through Simply Elegant for coordination services. Although our coordinator changed twice before we met Kay, working with her turned out to be the best. Kay was incredibly organized, efficient, and always on top of things. She made our wedding day an absolute breeze, and we can't imagine it without her! We are so grateful to have worked with her and highly recommend Kay. We also used quite a few vendors from the Preferred Vendor list, all of which were amazing. We had great experiences across the board!

Fantastic experience: We used the SEG for our wedding recently in Chicago. We booked the "day-of" coordinator package which was perfect for what we were looking for. Initially we were a little disappointed that there seemed to be some turnover happening with a few coordinators, but were grateful when Alyssa was assigned to us. She was very prompt and helpful when communicating and helped our final weeks and day-of go seamlessly. We were very happy with Alyssa and would recommend the SEG to anyone else needing some day-of coordinating services.

Fantastic experience: I worked with Jennifer David, one of the planners with the Simply Elegant Group, this past spring for a mutual client's wedding. As a floral designer, I get to work with lots of wedding planners. Jennifer was an amazing person to have for such a crucial day. She was highly organized on the day of the wedding as well as during the weeks leading up to it. She was a positive, calming presence, which is extremely important quality for a wedding day.

Fantastic experience: Jennifer David with Simply Elegant Group was one of my favorite parts of our wedding. I am so happy we found her! Jennifer and her assistants were our day-of coordinators for our winter wedding and they were nothing short of excellent. Admittedly, I initially thought I didn’t need a coordinator or any help (DIY bride!) but I didn’t know how it would all get done. I didn’t want to delegate tasks to bridesmaids, family or friends because I wanted them to fully enjoy the day. Jennifer was absolutely wonderful. We did a walk-through of our venue and she was so calm, cool & collected—reassuring me and making me feel confident and excited about the wedding. I think every bride needs and deserves that! Her and her team were able to set up my decor and adorn my reception exactly how I envisioned it! The way they work is so detailed and it was so great to bounce ideas back and forth throughout the process. I was able to give them photos, documents and detailed instructions on how to decorate our space. It was executed so perfectly.
