The Road to Marriage

Fantastic experience: Helayne, Helayne, Helayne! It’s all we have to say. We were married October 11, 2025 in Westminster, CA and Helayne was with us every step of the way. I was initially looking to hire a day of coordinator because I didn’t think we’d need a ton of help, but after interviewing about 5 people and each of them said they would start communicating with me 90 days before the wedding, I realized I actually wanted someone more available to answer questions before the “crunch time” immediately prior to the wedding. Helayne was the only one who said “you can text/call whenever and we will schedule regular meetings to discuss your progress.” This was a game changer for us! She was pricier than the other “day of coordinators” but we could immediately tell she was the best choice for us after just one call. She was worth every penny and more! Helayne helped create a timeline for when invitations should be sent, when the save the dates should go out, and how the actual wedding day would flow. Whenever we had a question she responded in a timely manner. We were impressed with her proactivity in reaching out to us, and her no nonsense attitude (I personally needed the accountability). But she was also so pleasant to be around (and funny) and our wedding ran like a dream. If we could use three words to describe her work it would be: competent, professional, and supportive. She’s incredibly competent and knows the wedding business and flow like no other. She’s so professional, always was on time and thought about every detail. We felt so supported and understood throughout the process. She is really the best. So if you’re debating on whether you need Helayne, stop debating, you need her! We could not have had our perfect day without her. I’m eternally grateful she chose to work with us! Thank you for everything, Helayne!

Fantastic experience: We found out about Helayne through a close friend who had worked for her in Texas. From our first meeting, we knew she was the right fit for us. Even though she was over the budget we had set for a planner, we had so much confidence and trust in her from the beginning that we went ahead and signed a contract and it was probably the single best decision we made during our planning process. Her attention to detail was exactly what we needed as a type A surgeon couple. She went on countless tours of venues with us over facetime but offered to meet us in person whenever we wanted. She checked in with us frequently, figuring out what both of us wanted out of the wedding, the vendors, and the venue. She had so much prior experience that we easily trusted her recommendations, since she had seen what has worked in the past and what hasn’t. We had initially only booked for our wedding day but then added on a contract for our tea ceremony only a few months before the date since we were struggling to handle it on our own. She jumped right in and went to work. She had hired an assistant with a Vietnamese background who was able to speak Vietnamese with my family with limited English and knew the customs and traditions, which made a world of difference. The whole weekend was perfect and we can’t thank her enough.

Saying that working with Helayne from The Road to Marriage was wonderful just feels like an understatement. Right away from our first interview, I knew we would be a great fit. I had heard that having a planner was the best way to go about planning a wedding, but as someone who typically prefers to do most things herself, I struggled with the idea of trusting someone with my big day. But with Helayne, I knew I was safe. I felt like I could give Helayne my half baked ideas or “vibes” and she could just run with it and guide me towards exactly what I wanted. I never felt pressured or rushed, and no questions or concerns of mine were ever silly. She would be very honest whenever I had questions on the pricing difference between vendors and gave her honest and valid opinions, which helped guide my decision making process. Helayne gave us very clear timelines and “to do” lists that helped make the entire planning process way less stressful. And it wasn’t just the planning process that was seamless: her organization and clear communication on the actual day made her the best damn day-of wedding coordinator ever. I had so many wedding guests walk up to us and say how impressed they were with my wedding planner. One person told me that Helayne made it seem like I was a high-end celebrity with the efficiency and care she treated our day with! I know you hear horror stories about all the things that can go wrong with a wedding, but from our rehearsal dinner, to the big day, to checking on us before out honeymoon, Helayne made our wedding weekend flawless. Fantastic experience: I cannot stress enough how amazing Helayne was and how helpful she was with planning our wedding. She took nearly all of the stress planning away from us, and she handled everything day of—including helping us move quick during an emergency—to where we weren’t stressed beyond the emergency and were able to enjoy the day and just be happy. When picking a planner, I was worried about them working with us to make what we wanted and how much help they’d actually be able to give us alongside how accepting they’d be of us as a lesbian couple following some really bad interactions with people at a wedding planning event nearby (TX). In our initial talk, she made me feel less anxious about interactions and made it clear that it was about what we wanted and how to best achieve that without going too overboard. She made it seem doable rather than overwhelming and seemed excited to make what we pictured come to life. Her excitement and ability to lay out the plan in a way that made sense without overwhelming us made us feel excited to pick her as our planner. Throughout the process, she would update us and talk with us regularly, giving options and ideas that aligned with what we were trying to explain and made it so that we could enjoy the process of planning the wedding and look forward to the day of the wedding. After planning everything in less than a year, we had our dream wedding and couldn’t be happier day of it—a lot of that is thanks to her. My main advice for people starting out is to hire a good planner and realize it’ll save you money, time and stress in the long run, and if you’re reading this to look at whether or not she’s worth it—I’m here to say that she is worth it and more. She’s amazing, and I am so happy I was lucky enough to have found her and worked with her. 10/10 or 100/100 or 5/5: I do fully recommend that you hire her as a wedding planner if you want the least stressful experience possible, which is thanks to a wonderful human. When I got engaged I didn’t entertain the idea of using another planner as I knew my sister had a fabulous experience working with her. Helayne once again did a fabulous job helping me and my husband plan our wedding! Fantastic experience: When we first started this process, my husband wasn't entirely sure about a wedding planner. To be frank, on paper it can seem like a large line item cost and there will be a temptation to just want to do it yourself. I am going to be blunt and recommend you spend on a wedding planner. The LAST thing you want on your own wedding day is to deal with every small logistical issue under the sun. It's a stress that is not needed on your big day. When looking for a wedding planner, it was really important that we find someone who would be a fit for our blended family and backgrounds, someone who could treat our cultures with respect. And so thank goodness for Google, we found Helayne. A few details about our wedding, we had 220 people attend and wanted to have the wedding feel as customized to our personalities and who we are. Additionally we had a Chinese Tea Ceremony and Welcome Party. Helayne made this all happen. And it wasn't easy. To ensure we got a wedding that felt in every part like our wedding, we had to work really hard (all of us). Wedding planning is always going to be stressful. So it's not a matter of askign if a wedding planner takes away the stress and more about finding someone who can be on this journey with you and ensure that (stress or not) your vision comes true. Below are some of the amazing things Helayne and The Road to Marriage brought to the table. 1) Eye for detail. Helayne truly made us feel seen and heard in what we wanted - from the vendors she matched us up with (shoutout to Lady Buggs Flowers who was an amazing connection made) to the consultative advice she provided. For example, she recommended to our stationer that it might make more sense to have the table seating chart be lsited by start of last name (alphabetical) vs by table grouping. Such a seemingly small suggestion that ended up being a game changer. 2) Efficient execution and operational excellence. If you're looking for a strong operator who can ensure an event as important as a wedding actually gets done correctly, then Helayne is the right person. Her strong skills in logistical planning, vendor execution, and operational planning kept us on a solid schedule and resulted in what I can honestly say was the best weekend of my life thus far. 3) Day of crisis management. I expected this but was still surprised by how many things the day of the wedding didn't go 100% as expected. Not because Helayne or we couldn't control it but because things happen when you have 220 people in the same room and different vendors working together! Helayne handled everything with grace. I never felt one minute of stress or anxiety. I wanted to specifically call out Helayne's work on the Chinese Tea Ceremony. This is an event that was not necessarily in her cultural wheelhouse, but the level of respect and care she took to work on this was outstanding. Every moment of this ceremony was deeply impactful and resonating and she helped make this happen for my family. We would be remiss if we did not mention Helayne's biggest bonus asset which is her personality. She is genuinely a kind and caring professional, with a holistic eye for design. Working with Helayne over the past year put all of those doubts to rest - we truly could not have pulled off such a complicated event without her expert guidance and calming presence throughout the journey. Her proprietary approach that breaks everything into manageable tasks, ability to source quality vendors, and day-of team exceeded all our expectations. During vendor selection, for example, she would save us time by presenting us with 2-3 well-researched contacts who she knew would achieve our vision. As the big day approached, Helayne’s organizational skills shined, and she created a minute-by-minute, multi-page timeline for the event that included every detail from guest allergies and our preferred drinks to making sure some “quiet time” was scheduled for us as a couple. When it came time for the wedding, we went in feeling fully prepared and knew that Helayne’s team was ready to handle any surprises that might pop up - leaving us to celebrate with friends/family and simply take everything in. The wedding itself was flawlessly executed; everything from the florals and table design to the catering and officiant perfectly aligned with our vision. We could not have asked for a more successful outcome, and it was in no small part thanks to Helayne.

Fantastic experience: The biggest challenge of wedding planning was one, could we handle planning every detail or did we want help and two, who should we choose? We found Helayne as she had great reviews so we decided to meet her and find out if she was a fit. You see, as a younger couple we had a budget and we needed a planner that was savvy enough to help us stick to it. In our first conversation with Helayne we clicked right away! She was no nonsense, efficient and a sense of humor about it (plus she has cute dogs, how can you not trust a dog mom?!) To couples looking to answer the question of needing help or not, I would be honest with yourself if you believe you will be able to keep yourself to a schedule to hit important wedding deadlines no matter what life throws at you, and be disciplined enough to make payments on time to vendors. Fantastic experience: When we started planning our wedding over 2 years ago (thanks COVID) we knew we needed a wedding planner because we didn't even know what went into planning a wedding, let alone how to make it happen. Hiring Helayne was one of the first wedding decisions we made and we couldn't be happier! She has kept us on track planning-wise while navigating all of the changes we had to make with two postponements due to COVID. I truly don't know how we would have managed to contact, coordinate the postponements, and update contracts with all of our vendors without her help. Fantastic experience: Helayne was amazing at navigating us through COVID- we had so many changes to deal with. Helayne came highly recommended from my previous wedding planner who is no longer in the business. She is organized, efficient and kept us on track while keeping the wedding as close to originally planned as possible. She if very good at taking the bride's wishes and producing the "main event".

Why we loved her so much: 100% professional all the time: I interviewed several planners and some seemed to be flaky, disorganized, or wedding planning as a side gig. This was NOT the case with Helayne She is meticulous, organized, detail-oriented, always punctual, proactive at identifying and resolving issues, and does not waste your time. As a busy professional that is what I needed in a planner Covid lifesaver- Helayne essentially planned and replanned our wedding 5 times. Her absolute top priority was the successful outcome and even though it was significant extra work adjusting due to COVID she never once hesitated. She is a helper and problem solver. Without her- I truly don’t think the wedding would have happened because I was paralyzed due to all the uncertainty. She explained risks/trade offs and was constantly on top off all the changing COVID guidelines Expert knowledge- while we MAY have been able to identify and secure contracts with all the vendors at our wedding, it would have taken ALOT more time, effort, and mistakes. All of the vendors in Helayne’s network are incredible. She makes sure you only deal with highly reliable and professional vendors. An absolute must for your wedding day!!!! She did not push vendors or choices on me- Helayne got to know me and the provided options for who I should work with to achieve the vision. I made the choices and she supported and executed upon them. If you aren’t sure if you need a planner- I would tell you you do! Planning a wedding is a great deal of work and you will definitely underestimate what is required! The process is long, confusing, full of decisions and having an expert guide you through it, is well worth the cost! My wedding was like night and day compared to others I have been part of. As part of the bridal party at friend's weddings there were some where we were picking music and assigning seats the day of the wedding. The whole thing passed in a disorganized blur. Thanks to the planning by Helayne, her amazing collection of vendors, and her meticulous attention to detail, my wedding day was joyful, relaxing, and full of so many special memories with family and friends. Positive experience: Helayne was our wedding planner, she did an excellent job the day of the wedding. She is incredibly organized and she has lots of connections to the San Antonio wedding network. Our wedding ended up being incredible but it did go over our budget. I would recommend Helayne but I would suggest you make sure she understands that the budget is the budget, I felt like I had to look for cost savings opportunities when I thought that she should have been doing that type of work. She is very knowledgeable about what would work, how to do things and when to do them. She is very responsive, most of the time she is almost immediate.

Fantastic experience: Helanya was an absolute delight to work with. She is sweet, charming, professional and very punctual. She went above and beyond our entire engagement and helped set a timeline for us and stay on track and make sure we had answers to every little thing we wanted for our special day. What I loved most about her is she has the capability of leading and directing vendors/guests but in a way that never came off too stern or unpleasant AT ALL. My parents kept commenting on her and how wonderful she was. 12/10 had an EXCELLENT experience with her and would recommend to anyone looking for a coordinator in a heart beat.

Fantastic experience: If you are recently engaged and preparing to plan your wedding, call The Road To Marriage! Helayne will do an outstanding job. We hired TRTM in July 2019 for our wedding on December 28, 2019. Our interest in TRTM was based on other couples’ reviews and social media. We opted for the middle package- not complete planning and coordination but more than just day of coordination. We had secured our venue but needed assistance with florals/decorations, catering, entertainment and transportation. Helayne assistance was invaluable. She accompanied us to vendor meetings and offered insightful advice to aid our choices based on our wedding vision. Her recommendations for catering, bartender service, florist, event decor, and transportation were superb. Helayne is incredibly organized, thorough and detail oriented. Fantastic experience: As a wedding photographer I've worked with a lot of amazing wedding planners (some not so good ones as well). Very few of them hold a candle to the level of effort, detail and passion that Helayne puts into her weddings. Fantastic experience: We engaged Helayne at the Road to Marriage at the beginning of the nearly year-long process of planning our daughter’s wedding. Helayne was highly recommended by several friends/wedding industry professionals. Although I am very comfortable and have some experience in planning and executing small events, managing the many details and decisions involved in planning a wedding can quickly become an overwhelming and stressful task so I knew that I would really benefit from the services of a wedding planner. I knew from the first meeting with Helayne that The Road to Marriage was the right choice. Her professionalism, organization and attention to detail was apparent from the beginning. Throughout the year of planning, Helayne always responded to questions and concerns as soon as possible and went above and beyond to make all the arrangements that we wanted. Fantastic experience: Not enough positive adjectives to describe the amazing experience that we had with Helayne and her staff. From the first day we met her to a few days after our daughter’s wedding she was friendly, professional, attentive and kind. There were a lot of moving parts on the the wedding day and a surprise for the bride and groom that only came together 2 weeks before the date that she handled with such ease that you would never know I was not planned for months. Fantastic experience: Where do we begin?? My husband and I swore we didn't need a wedding coordinator, after all we had already done all the work...so we thought ;) Everyone told us to hire at least a day of coordinator but again we felt we had everything under control! Then we met with our DJ and he started asking some very detailed questions that we had no idea how to answer. He asked if we had a wedding coordinator, again we explained we didn't need one, he laughed and said if budget was an issue he could make some recommendations. He texted Helayne right then and there and a couple other coordinators he knew, Helayne responded immediately and she worked with our budget. All this via THEIR text with each other. By the time we left we had her info and scheduled to meet her ASAP. First impressions are everything and she blew us away. We felt so comfortable with her like we'd known her forever. From there on the rest is as they say smooth sailing. She heard us and applied everything we envisioned along with her expertise and our wedding was AMAZING!!! Helayne is the best in the business, a real person you can rely on and trust with the most important day of your lives. She replies to every text, call, and email promptly. The day off our wedding was nothing short of phenomenal. The peace of mind we had is nothing we can put into words. Everyone of our guests complimented us for how smooth the course of events played out, we still had time to have fun and keep on schedule as well. Before we even hired her, she was the first of all the planners we contacted to respond, to set up an interview, and to follow up. I appreciated her drive and organizational skills from our very first emails. Our wedding was fraught with planning drama, and despite the fact that we only booked partial planning services, Helayne went above and beyond to help us out when our planning experience hit the rocks. She is the perfect balance of honest and accepting. I know our wedding was offbeat and one with many firsts for her, but she never made us feel like our choices were any less meaningful just because they weren't "traditional." However, she didn't shy away from having the hard conversations - she told us bad news plainly, and honestly, but always had a backup plan. She doesn't sugarcoat things, which, when you're planning an event, is a valuable asset. Despite our planning drama, I almost began to enjoy watching her handle vendors on our behalf - she has this masterful ability to question people in such a way that she gets a truthful answer from them, even if they don't want to give it. Maybe it comes from her history as a teacher! My new mother in law described Helayne as a military general, and that is absolutely accurate. She is meticulous, prepared, grounded, realistic, and capable. And maybe has a secret twin, because I'm not sure how else she managed to be everywhere at once on our wedding day.

Fantastic experience: We were fortunate to have the opportunity to select Helayne as our wedding planner. She was exactly what we were looking for to plan our "best day ever". From the moment we met, she took the time to get to know us on a personal level individually and as a couple to make sure she was able to execute exactly what we envisioned.
