Fantastic experience: Sarah planned our November wedding and did an amazing job! She came up with so many special details I never would have been able to think of myself. Everything was executed flawlessly. Truly the best!

I would recommend her to anyone who is nervous about the wedding planning process. She was always available and continuously made sure I was happy with our progress. I never had to worry about deadlines or missing a detail because I knew Sarah had it. She gave many options for vendors and was able to tailor what worked best for my wedding. Negative experience: A month after signing with Sarah, we were still without a cohesive vision or a single signed vendor. Despite our direction, her suggestions remained consistently off-base. When we finally pushed for the personalized, professional recommendations we were paying for, she abruptly canceled our contract, citing a difference in 'philosophy.' Turns out her “philosophy” is that you hire her friends, no questions asked. Her inability to deliver cost us thousands of dollars and weeks of irreplaceable planning time.

Fantastic experience: As a wedding photographer, you get to experience a range of wedding planners and designers. Our experience working with Sarah at Soho stands out from the rest. Sarah’s exquisite attention to detail radiates through her designs and more than translates to her event day execution. She (and her staff) are an absolute joy to work with, and treat both guest and vendor alike with respect. Sarah excels at proactive communication to anticipate and handle issues ahead of time, but is also flexible on her feet when things need to pivot on the day of the event. We hope to work with Sarah many more times in the future!

Negative experience: If you are seeking a high-touch, collaborative, and truly bespoke wedding planning experience, I would not recommend SoHo Events. While Sarah presents a 'can-do' and creative front during the sales process, the reality post-contract is a rigid, condescending, and surprisingly formulaic operation. I chose a private estate venue specifically to avoid the 'conveyor belt' wedding feel, yet Sarah attempted to force me into a limited, pre-selected box of her own preferred vendors. Despite marketing herself as a custom planner, she consistently pushed a single option for every category. When we asked for variety or insight, we were met with dismissive comments about her 'friendships' with vendors rather than professional analysis or advocacy for our vision. Most disappointing was the shift in tone. Sarah’s approach quickly became patronizing and unwelcome to any input that didn't align with her direction. Instead of a partner to alleviate stress, she became a source of it, talking down to me and disregarding my priorities to the point of tears. She prioritizes her own 'vision' over the bride’s, making it feel as though you are a guest at her event rather than the lead in your own. Ultimately, when we asserted our right to have the final say, Sarah terminated the contract and retained our funds—despite having delivered no layouts, no signed vendors, and zero tangible progress. For the couple who wants a luxury experience defined by transparency, respect, and true customization, Sarah/Soho Events is a significant liability.

We collaborated on a large-scale gala at The Umstead, and from the very beginning, her vision was both elevated and deeply intentional. She has an incredible eye for design—layering color, texture, and subtle Amalfi Coast influences in a way that felt refined rather than thematic. Every detail was considered, yet nothing felt overdone. There’s a natural ease to the environments she creates, which is a testament to her intuition and experience. Fantastic experience: Working with Sarah for my wedding at North Corner Haven was a joy from start to finish for my mother and me. Her focus was on us (the couple), our marriage and our families and friends. She took our vision for their wedding day and made it a reality. She listened to all the things that were important to us and our parents, and made sure they were incorporated into the day. Sarah knows the layout at NCH and created a wonderful plan for the flow of ceremony, cocktails, dinner and dancing. Sarah has years of experience, so she really knows what she's doing. She coordinated the linens, flowers, furniture, bar and stage in a beautiful, cohesive way that highlighted our chosen color scheme. Her vendors for invitations, food, flowers, tents, transportation, photography and music were exceptional. And we even let her worry about the weather so we didn’t have to! On the wedding day, Sarah took care of all the details and made sure we were where we were supposed to be and when, and that nothing we had planned went undone. No one was stressed EVER. We had a beautiful and joy filled day and can’t thank Sarah enough for all she did to make it so.

Hiring a full-service planner allowed us to maintain a sense of normalcy in work and life throughout our engagement, but the great part about hiring Sarah was how she made the wedding planning process fun. She started by creating a beautiful design plan for our wedding day, which served as the guiding vision for the rest of the planning process. She has an amazing network of wedding professionals and was able to recommend vendor options that worked seamlessly with our budget, aesthetics, and personalities. This was particularly helpful for us as we were planning a Charlotte wedding while living in New York. Fantastic experience: We got married on 3/12/23 at The Farm at Old Edwards Inn and hired Sarah from SoHo Event Design & Planning as our planner. I am so thankful we did! Sarah was incredibly thorough with us throughout the entire process to ensure that our wedding day would run seamlessly and look stunning. In the months leading up to the wedding, she was always very quick to respond to emails and to come up with solutions (which is something I greatly appreciated as planning a wedding comes with lots of constantly moving parts and continuous changes). Fantastic experience: As a bride at the wedding, it can be easy to get caught up in the celebration and friends/family. Sarah made sure that we tracked along with the itinerary so that we were able to do all that we wanted. She made sure we were well fed and always had a drink (if we wanted one). From the beginning of my planning process, Sarah was someone I could go to for any questions, concerns and all my random thoughts. I also wanted a disco ball over our dance floor but realized quickly it was out of our budget. She surprised us on our wedding day with mini disco balls on the cake table with flowers and greenery around them. I almost cried when I saw them! She is the greatest example of truly caring about your clients and wanting their wedding to be the best day of their lives. Her and her team did everything imaginable that day to make sure we were happy and had all that we needed. They were the calming presence we needed in many moments throughout the day/night. I will be forever grateful and cannot recommend SoHo Events enough!

Fantastic experience: Sarah with SoHo Event Design and Planning made every dream that we had come true, every detail that we wanted she accommodated it, and most of all, made it stress free for us. We felt like we were the only wedding she was working with and she was always available for us. When our wedding day came, we were elated with the attention to detail, how everything came together and was beyond what we imagined. Everything went off without any mistakes and all of the guests raved about how beautiful the wedding was. My husband and I can’t thank Sarah and everyone involved enough for making our special day truly a dream come true. Fantastic experience: Sarah and the team at Soho are fantastic! Sarah was able to take the vision for our wedding at The Biltmore Estate and make it reality. It was a wonderful experience working through all the details with someone who is this experienced and talented. She was able to pull it all together, keep you sane and respect the budget!
